2015 has been no disappointment for fans of the Jordan Brand 7 series, with releases such as the ‘Bordeaux’ and ‘Hare’ renditions creating huge excitement for the sneaker community. This coming Saturday, the Jordan Brand will continue to treat its fans with the release of the Jordan 7 Retro ‘Marvin The Martian’.
Michael Jordan still stands today as the most respected and recognizable figure in basketball history. Jordan’s success both on and off the court has translated over to arguably the most successful sneaker line of all time, yet Jordan’s presence did not stop with just shoes. The 1996 smash hit Space Jam starring Jordan himself further cemented him as not only a basketball figure, but a pop culture icon. With the Jordan 7 ‘Hare’ earning its name from the main Looney Tunes and Space Jam character Bugs Bunny, the brand decided to continue this trend with the introduction of the ‘Marvin the Martian’ offering in the 7 series.
Staying true to the colours of the Looney Tunes villain, the Marvin the Martian 7’s upper is constructed of black leather, with hints of red, green, purple and grey found throughout the shoe. The lateral side is highlighted by a classic stitched red jumpman along with strong red and grey accents along the midsole. The purple, orange and green make their way into the shoe along the tongue and the rear, with the rear of the shoe sporting Jordan’s 23 in red overtop of a green and purple pattern. The sole of the shoe is a vibrant construction of red, green and orange with another jumpman, this time in lime green.
The Marvin the Martian 7 is a beautiful combination of a mostly tonal black sneaker brought to life by the appropriate colour accents found throughout. With a slated release date of August 15th and a retail price of $190 USD, will the Marvin the Martian 7 be the most anticipated 7 series sneaker of 2015?
